Happy Birthday Friedman School!

In 1978, the Tufts Nutrition Institute, precursor to the Tufts School of Nutrition, was formally established and interdisciplinary coursework began on the Medford campus of Tufts University.

From its first class of 17 students, the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy has matured to a student body with over 250 students and an impressive alumni pool of over 1,800. We recently celebrated our 40th birthday and made our founder Jean Mayer proud by awarding the Jean Mayer Prize (made possible by John Hancock Insurance) to four people and organizations whose work at the intersection of policy and science has helped to make the world a healthier place.
